The Ultimate Housing Overview

Move-In Day is an exciting time for the incoming freshman class, as many students get to see their “dorm” room for the first time! Get prepared before Move-In Day with this guide to residence halls, suites, and apartments at Gardner-Webb. This is the first part of our Living on Campus series! Below, you’ll find a list of each residence hall on campus including room dimensions, mattress size, and a brief description.

 

Spangler Hall (Female)
Spangler Hall consists of three floors with a communal bathroom on each floor. The building also features a laundry facility on the ground floor, and is handicap accessible.

  • Approximate room size: 18’ x 12’

  • Mattress type: Extra-long twin

 

Myers Hall (Female)

Myers Hall consists of two floors with a communal bathroom on each floor. The building also features a laundry facility and lounge on the ground floor.

  • Approximate room size: 18’ x 12’

  • Mattress type: Extra-long twin

 

Decker Hall (Female)

Decker Hall consists of four floors with a communal bathroom on each floor. The building also features a lounge, kitchen, ground-level laundry facility, and is handicap accessible.

  • Approximate room size: 13’ x 14’

  • Mattress type: Extra-long twin

 

Stroup Hall (Female)

Stroup Hall has three floors with a communal bathroom on each floor. The building features a kitchen on the second floor, a lounge on the ground floor, and a laundry facility on the basement floor.

  • Approximate room size: 12’ x 10’

  • Mattress type: Extra-long twin

 

H.A.P.Y. Hall (Female)
H.A.P.Y. Hall consists of two floors with suite-style accommodations (two rooms sharing a single bathroom). The ground floor features a kitchen, laundry facility, lounge, and is handicap accessible. Female Honors Program Participants are housed in H.A.P.Y. Hall.

  • Approximate room size: 13’ x 13’

  • Mattress type: Twin

 

H.A.P.Y. Hall Wing (Male)

Male Honors Program participants are housed in H.A.P.Y. Hall Wing. This residence consists of one floor with a communal bathroom. The wing also features a kitchenette and laundry facility. Residents also have access to the lounge of H.A.P.Y. Hall.

  • Approximate room size: 13’ x 14’

  • Mattress type: Twin

 

Lutz-Yelton Hall (Male)

Lutz-Yelton Hall consists of four floors with a communal bathroom on each floor. The building also features a lounge, laundry facility, and kitchen on the ground floor.

  • Approximate room size: 15’ x 12’

  • Mattress type: Extra-long twin

 

Mauney Hall (Male)

Mauney Hall consists of four floors with a communal bathroom on each floor. The building also features a lounge, kitchenette, ground-level laundry facility, and is handicap accessible.

  • Mattress type: Extra-long twin

 

Royster Hall (Male)
Royster Hall consists of one floor with two communal bathrooms. The building also features a laundry facility, a lounge, a kitchenette, and is handicap accessible.

University Commons Apartments

The University Commons Apartments consist of seven buildings that have three floors, and twelve apartments per building. The apartments feature full kitchens, private laundry facilities, and private bedrooms with full-sized beds.

  • Approximate room size: 11’ x 11’

  • Mattress type: Full

 

University Commons Suites
The University Commons Suites consist of three buildings that have three floors, and twelve suites per building. The suites feature a kitchenette, two bathrooms, four bedrooms, and a common room per unit. The suites also feature two communal kitchens and three laundry facilities.

  •  Approximate room size: 11’ x 13’

  • Mattress type: Extra-long twin

Other things to know:

  • Laundry is unlimited on campus and each residence hall is equipped with laundry facilities in the building.

  • All residence halls, suites, and apartments receive basic cable service. Given that the cable service provided is digital, students will need to obtain a television that can receive digital signal, or be willing to obtain a digital converter box. The University is not responsible if the television and/or converter box purchased by the student is not compatible with the cable service provided. Please notify Housing and Residence Education if you experience any problems.
