IT’S GAME DAY! We are playing our second conference game tonight at 7 vs. High Point. Conference games are where you leave everything you have out on the field. Every three-a-day in preseason, every 120 sprint, every 5:15 wake up for weights is now worth it. Everything we have trained for is now here!
But I have to remind myself “yo Tori, hold up, I still have 12 hours until kick off”. I have a full day of classes ahead of me before the game. I have my dance, biochemistry, psychopathology, and bio seminar classes before I can even begin to focus on the game.
Finally, after my busy Wednesday class schedule, I take a pre-game nap to clear my mind and begin focusing on the game. The alarm goes off, and I head to the locker room. Outside the fieldhouse I begin to hear the music over the speakers in the locker room.
“This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name”
Adrenaline is pumping through my veins; I am excited and ready for the game. Everything we have prepared for is now here. It is time to make the Big South Conference “Remember the Name” of Gardner-Webb. It’s our time.
